The Ukrainian community in the Netherlands has submitted a petition to the Dutch parliament with the request to recognize the Holodomor famine of 1932-1933 as genocide against the Ukrainian people.
A Ukrinform correspondent said that the petition had been signed by more than 200 representatives of the Ukrainian community.
The document was handed over to Ukrainian Ambassador to the Netherlands Oleksandr Horin during a ceremony to honor Holodomor victims, which was held in a central square in The Hague. In the near future he will pass the request of Ukrainians to Dutch MPs. According to the diplomat, this issue has preliminarily been discussed with MPs.
During the ceremony Ukrainians also lit candles and honored Holodomor victims with a minute of silence.
