Ukrainian police uncover flat allegedly with Azarov`s things: ”Icons, award guns, paintings”

Kyiv police have uncovered a flat in Darnytsia district, which had things allegedly belonging to former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

”A flat used as a warehouse storing shopping bags stuffed with valuables and works of art was revealed in the [Ukrainian] capital`s Darnytsky district. Police officers uncovered it during an operation. Having secured all the permits, investigators together with a lawyer got into the flat,” acting chief of the National Police Vadym Troyan wrote on Facebook

Reportedly, there were dozens of icons and religious books dating from the 19th century, the originals (as experts concluded) of paintings by Ilya Repin, Vasily Tropinin and Nikos Safronov. Among other things were silverware, commemorative coins, and award weapons carrying the fugitive prime minister`s name, and a Cossack saber.

The police reported that they also had found awards and greeting cards from the Russian leaders, which date back, inter alia, to the period of the tragic events of the Revolution of Dignity.

According to preliminary information, the value of the discovered assets is estimated at several million dollars.
