Ukraine’s NSDC to initiate sanctions on defense industry’s orders non fulfillment

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov initiates the introduction of a bill to toughen criminal liability of companies that are not fulfilling their defense orders.
He stated the news on air Channel 5 on Thursday.
“Many companies who see that the government gives defense orders, take those orders they are not able to manufacture. And we had plenty of unfulfilled orders last year. That is, they took the money and then explained they did not have time. They still request additional financing and started to talk about their problems. We are not interested in their problems since we are interested in high-quality and modern weapons. Therefore, I will initiate the introduction of legislation bill on strengthening criminal liability for failure to fulfill defense orders. If a company took a defense order, it must be completed,” he said.
According to Turchynov, at the moment Ukraine gives sufficient funds to restore the army’s defense capabilities and support Ukrainian enterprises of the military-industrial sector.
“At the same time, we won’t give a penny to anybody if there’s no result. And those who are trying to steal something or are unable to complete the tasks they have undertaken, they will be held responsible, including a criminal prosecution”, the official said.
