Ukraine`s Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) declined by 2.6 percentage points (pp.) in July from June, to 50.1, according to GfK Ukraine.
”In July, the index of Propensity to Consume dropped the most, which represents the feeling of insecurity among the consumers regarding the future economic growth. The Index of Inflationary Expectations increased after the period of decline in May and June 2016 and returned to the level of the first quarter,” GfK Ukraine analysts comment.
Index of Current Situation (ICS) decreased by 3.1 pp. and reached 46.6. The components of this index changed in the following way: Index of Current Personal Financial Standing (х1) was 42.7, which is 1.5 pp. higher than in June; Propensity to Consume (х5) decreased and reached 50.5, which is 7.8 pp. lower than in June.
Index of Economic Expectations (IEE) decreased by 2.3 pp. and reached 52.4 in July. The components of this index changed in the following way: Index of Expected Changes in Personal Financial Standing (х2) increased by 1.2 p. and reached 54.6; Index of Expected Economic Conditions in the Country over the Next Year (х3) decreased by 1.7 pp. and reached 41.4; Index of Expected Economic Conditions in the Country over the Next Five Years (х4) decreased by 6.4 pp. as compared to June and reached 61.2.
The expectations of Ukrainians regarding potential unemployment somewhat deteriorated in July: the Index of Expectations of Changes in Unemployment reached 153.6, which is 7.2 pp. lower than in June.
The Index of Inflationary Expectations also increased and reached 187, which is 2.7 pp. higher than in June. The expectations of Ukrainians concerning hryvnia exchange rate in the next 3 months changed rather slightly: Index of Devaluation Expectations increased by 0.4 pp. and reached 137.9.
