Ukraine reduces gas consumption by 13.6% over 4 mths

Ukraine in January-April 2016 has reduced consumption of natural gas year-over-year by 13.6% – from 16,2 billion cubic meters down to 14 bcm, that`s according to the national gas transportation system operator, the state-owned Ukrtransgaz.
5.6 bcm of gas was pumped from Ukraine`s gas storage facilities during this period compared to 3.9 bcm in January-April of last year.
The volume of gas injected into storage facilities over four months amounted to 270 million cubic meters, which is 3.2 times less than in the same period of 2015.
It also reported that in January-April, gas imports to Ukraine from the EU fell by almost 40% – down to 2.9 bcm.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine in 2015 reduced the consumption of natural gas as compared to 2014 by 20.9% – down to 33.727 bcm. The State Agency for Energy Efficiency forecasts a 15% percent decline in natural gas consumption in 2016 yoy.
According to the former energy minister, Volodymyr Demchyshyn, Ukraine planned to reduce imports of natural gas in 2016 compared to 2015 by 20-30% – from 16.4 bcm to 11-13 bcm.
