Ukraine received an additional $ 500 million from Japan – Ministry of Finance of Ukraine

Ukraine received an additional 65 billion Japanese yen (approximately $ 500 million) in soft loans under the loan agreement.

This agreement was signed by Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko and President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Akihiko Tanaka.

“The funds are directed to the state budget to finance priority social and humanitarian expenditures, health care, etc. The loan is provided on concessional terms: repayment period – 30 years; interest rate – 1% per annum.”

On June 7, the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Japan signed an additional loan agreement issued by the Japan International Cooperation Agency for development policy in the field of emergency economic recovery. The agreement provides for the increase of the loan amount from JPY 65 billion to JPY 78 billion (approximately USD 600 million).

On May 24, Ukraine received JPY 13.0 billion (about USD 100 million) under the agreement.

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine expected that in June the volume of external financing would increase to $4.8 billion compared to $1.5 billion in May.
