Ukraine needs to spend at least 5% of GDP on defense – premier

Ukraine should spend about 5% of GDP on ensuring national security and defense.
Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said this at a government meeting on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“The key priority is national security and defense and the financing of law enforcement agencies. We have set rather an ambitious goal for ourselves – up to 5% of GDP should be spent on national security, defense, and law enforcement activity,” he said.
According to Yatseniuk, the government is preparing a new draft law on the state budget and will try to achieve this objective in 2015.
