Ukraine may hold demarcation unilaterally

Ukraine is ready jointly with Russia to hold demarcation of the common border, if the Russian Federation constructively treats this issue. Otherwise, Ukraine will hold demarcation unilaterally.
MFA Spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis told a briefing on Wednesday, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We are ready to bilateral demarcation, if Russia demonstrates that it is a constructive approach to this issue,” he said.
At the same time, Perebyinis said, if Russia continues to block the demarcation, Ukraine under international law has every right to make unilateral demarcation.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman said that a year ago, Russia unilaterally suspended all consultations with the Ukrainian side on border demarcation and demarcation works.
It was reported that the National Security and Defense Council at a meeting in mid-June decided to task the government with unilateral demarcation of the Ukrainian-Russian border in connection with existing threats to national security.
