Ukraine loses a quarter of international reserves in November

Ukraine’s foreign exchange reserves as of December 1, 2014 amounted to $9.966 billion compared to $12.587 billion a month earlier, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has reported.
“According to preliminary data as of December 1, 2014, Ukraine’s international reserves amounted to 9.966 billion U.S. dollars in equivalent,” reads the statement.
NBU said that the dynamics of reserves in November had been largely influenced by the transfer of $1.45 billion to Naftogaz of Ukraine, which paid the debt in favor of Gazprom for the natural gas imported in November and December 2013.
$897.3 million worth of payments were also made in November to repay and service public debt in foreign currency, including to the International Monetary Fund.
