Ukraine Justice Ministry responds to idea to settle migrants in exchange for ”visa lib” with EU

A suggestion that Ukraine could accept migrants in exchange for being granted visa liberalization with the European Union is a personal reflection of Deputy Minister of Justice on European Integration Serhiy Petukhov, not the official position of the ministry, its press service reported.

”Publications on Facebook by Deputy Justice Minister Serhiy Petukhov and his reflections on a possible receipt by Ukraine of quotas for resettlement of migrants is his personal position as a citizen and an individual… This position does not reflect the official position of the Ministry of Justice or its head, Pavlo Petrenko,” reads the statement.

It is also noted that Ukraine has fulfilled absolutely all commitments undertaken in the framework of a visa liberalization process.

As reported earlier, Petukhov wrote on Facebook that Ukraine could offer the EU to take voluntarily a quota for resettlement of migrants in order for Ukrainians to get a visa-free regime for their EU travels.
