Ukraine, EU to hold urgent consultations

The Ukrainian government and the European Commission will hold urgent consultations on the introduction of additional import duties on goods supplied to Ukraine, Ukraine’s Mission to the European Union has told an Ukrinform correspondent in Brussels.
“According to Ukraine’s representative to the EU Kostiantyn Yeliseyev, tonight urgent consultations are to be held between Ukraine and the European Commission in the form of a video conference on the introduction of additional import duties according to the law of Ukraine on measures to stabilize Ukraine’s balance of payments in accordance with Article XII of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994,” reads the report.
From the Ukrainian side the event will be attended by representatives of the Finance Ministry, the Economic Development and Trade Ministry and the Foreign Ministry. The European side will be represented by the head of the group of support for Ukraine, Peter Balazs, and representatives of the trade bloc of the European Commission.
