Ukraine celebrates Unity Day

Today Ukraine celebrates the Unity Day. In 1919, the Act of reunion of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the West Ukrainian People’s Republic was proclaimed in the Sofiyska Square in Kyiv.
On this day, the official celebrations with the participation of officials of the state government, central and local executive bodies and local authorities, the public, the clergy and scholars are planned to be held in the capital. In particular, flowers will be laid to the monuments to Taras Shevchenko and Mykhailo Hrushevsky.
The celebrations to mark the Unity Day will be held in more than a hundred cities, towns and villages of Ukraine. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will visit Dnipropetrovsk today.
