Ukraine Border Guard Service fines 38 crews on vessels that entered occupied Crimea

Officers of the State Border Service of Ukraine said that 38 crew members from vessels that sailed into the temporarily occupied Crimea have been fined, the Border Service reported.

It is noted that a special division within the Border Service is equipped with a modern system of monitoring the territorial waters, which enables a remote monitoring of ships and vessels in the Black and Azov Seas, as well as a river.

”Due to effective use of this system, 38 crew members of ships suspected of entering the ports of the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea, have been prosecuted and fined a total amount of nearly UAH 240,000,” a statement said.

It is also noted that one of the key functions performed by the division is to maintain an exchange of information with the border services of the Black Sea states.

The exchange of information is carried out with respect to suspicious vessels or those believed to have dangerous freight.
