Ukraine boosts power exports by 30% in Q1

Ukraine boosted power exports by 30.4% in January-March 2016 (Q1) compared to the same period in 2015, to 1.158 billion kWh, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry.

Power exports in March alone grew by 15% from March 2015, to 0.449 billion kWh, the ministry said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, unable to supply enough coal to domestic thermal power plants, Ukraine saw a 68.8% reduction in foreign currency earnings from power exports in 2015 compared to 2014, from $487.2 million to $150.1 million.
