Ukraine adds more Russian, Crimean transport enterprises to sanction list

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, by his decree No. 133 of May 15, 2017, has enacted a resolution dated April 28 of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to extend sanctions for one year against Crimean-based and Russian legal entities, according to which the Simferopol airport, Crimean Railways and the Federal Freight company (Russia) were added to the Ukrainian sanctions list.

Subject to the sanctions are also Crimean-based seaports in Kerch, Sevastopol, Feodosia, Yalta, and Yevpatoria, as well as the Captain Service of the Kerch-based Sea Fishing Port, the Kerch Strait ferry service, More (Sea) shipbuilding yard, Kerch State Marine Technology University, and the Crimean Association of State Road Companies (Crimean Avtodor).

Ukraine also sanctioned Sevastopol Aviation Enterprise, which previously belonged to Ukraine`s Defense Ministry, as well as Yevpatoria aircraft repair plant.

The Ukrainian sanctions are also applicable to LLC VagonDorMash carriage repair workshop of Russia`s North Caucasus Railways, Russian-based Transmashholding, which ranks among the world`s top 10 transport machine building enterprises and owns a production and engineering site in Germany, as well as to Pavlovo-based PAZ bus factory, which is part of Russia`s GAZ group, and the Ukrainian subsidiary of Russia`s Freight One.

This decree shall come into force no later than June 1.

Earlier, Poroshenko`s decree enacted sanctions against the following Russian air carriers: Aeroflot, UTair, the 224th Flight Unit, VIM Airlines, Gazpromavia, Donavia Airlines, Kogalymavia Airlines Ltd., Orenburg Airlines Federal State Unitary Enterprise, Aircompany Polet, Red Wings, State Transport Company Rossiya – Russian Airlines, RusJet, RusLine, Siberia Airlines, Sirius-Aero, Transaero Airlines, Ural Airlines, Yakutia Airlines, Yamal Airlines, Tulpar, Uktus, Icarus, Sokol, and others. Moreover, the sanctions were imposed on the 308 aircraft repair plant, Russian Helicopters, Cherepovets-based Severstal airline company, Ulan-Ude aviation plant, Middle Volga shipping company, Norr-shipping agency, Ladoga shipping company, Gazprom fleet, Transpetrochart, and Rosmorport.
