Turchynov announces two scenarios that Russia can implement to try to conquer Ukraine

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov has announced two scenarios that Russia can implement to try to conquer Ukraine.

”The paradigm of ”hybrid war” is characterized by a high variance of methods with an overall integrated approach to their use,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday, a UNIAN correspondent reported.

According to Turchynov, while trying to conquer Ukraine, the Kremlin can implement one of two scenarios in the near future or in the long term.

”The first and most dangerous is a military scenario, namely a full-scale military aggression, which is also the most problematic and dangerous for the Kremlin itself. In particular, deploying additional military units near the border and in the occupied territories of Ukraine,” he said.

”The second scenario is no less dangerous – the so-called ”hybrid” scenario – which remains the most likely today. It involves the continuation of low-intensity combat actions in Donbas, with the possibility of local offensives by the Russian regular units, as well as subversive activities on the rest of the Ukrainian territory,” Turchynov declared.

In addition, he stressed that the Russians deliberately and systematically violate the Minsk agreements, constantly firing on the positions of Ukrainian troops, especially from heavy weapons, which is banned by the agreements.

”These weapons are often hidden in residential areas, deliberately endangering Ukrainian civilians suffering from the occupation,” Turchynov said.
