Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of Ukraine said that seven countries in the EU talked about other formats for Ukraine than candidate status. First of all, three of them do not want to give the “green light”to Kyiv.

“In total, about seven EU countries – not Eastern European and Baltic countries, as you can imagine – have made proposals for some other format, offering extra-candidacy or conditional application. There have been many different proposals, but there are three main countries, which do not want to give the green light to Ukraine today. “

The Deputy Prime Minister did not name these countries, adding: “If you do not want the decision to be made on June 24th, then let me name them, and we will sit down and discuss.” This is a summit on June 23-24, at which decisions on Ukraine’s EU candidate status can be made.

“I am sure that on June 24 none of the leaders of the European Union will be able to say ‘No’ to Ukraine,” Stefanishyna said.

During her trip to Brussels, she tries to dispel the doubts of skeptical countries. In particular, she points out that Ukraine has fulfilled 65-70 percent of its obligations under the association agreement and created a system of anti-corruption bodies. Stefanishyna assures that any options, except the candidate status, “will weaken the EU”.
