US Ambassador to the UN said on August 24, 2022, at the UN Security Council that the international community would never recognize Russia’s attempt to forcefully change Ukraine’s borders.

“Let’s be clear, the international community will never recognize Russia’s attempts to change Ukraine’s borders by force.”
The Ambassador noted that Russia is increasingly actively using disinformation campaigns to prepare new attempts to annex Ukrainian territory.
“Specifically, Russia is laying the groundwork to attempt to annex the regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia and all of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.”
According to the Ambassador, Russia is responsible for creating a “nuclear disaster risk” related to nuclear safety at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
The US is also concerned about Russia’s “filtration” operations, which include the forced deportation of the Ukrainian civilian population to remote areas of the Russian Federation. Russian forces are forcibly confiscating and replacing passports, imposing curricula in schools, and replacing Ukrainian street names and other public signs with Russian ones.
“The evidence of Russian forces interrogating, detaining, and forcibly deporting hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians, including children, continues to mount. Their reasons are clear: they want to destroy Ukraine – its culture, its people, its very existence.”
