The invasion of Ukraine has led to a sharp deterioration in attitudes toward Russia around the world. The Russian president has led an anti-rating of politicians who are least trusted.

According to the survey, an average of 85% of respondents in 18 countries said they had a negative attitude towards Russia, with the majority in most countries saying they had a very bad opinion of Russia.
Since the question was last asked in 2020, there has been a sharp decline in Russia’s positive assessments, with a record low in all 18 countries.
Poland and Sweden are distinguished by the sharpness of their negative views. Yes, 97% of Poles treat Russia badly, and 91% – very badly. In Sweden, 94% express a negative opinion, while 80% say they have a very negative attitude towards Russia. The only exception to Russia is Malaysia, where almost half (47%) hold a positive view and 50% have a negative view of Russia.
The survey involved 23,484 residents of 18 countries: the United States, Canada, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Britain, Israel, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Korea. The interviews were conducted from February 14 to May 11, 2022, most of them after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24.
