“Now we are celebrating Victory Day in Europe. When decades ago, soldiers from allied countries, from Ukraine, from Russia, stood side by side and defeated fascism. And what Vladimir Putin is doing today, these last weeks brings shame to light. The memory of those millions, millions of Russians who gave their lives in the name of freedom. This is what Putin will leave in Europe.”

“What Putin needs to understand is that the West is absolutely determined and resolved to stand against what he is doing. His illegal war, his escalations, and his crossing of red lines by choosing to further invade Ukraine means that we will do as a world everything we can to make sure that he loses. He is inflicting atrocities upon civilians, and it’s all something that he is doing because he thought he could win. But he can only lose.”

The Ukrainian President said that Canada was among the leaders in supporting Ukraine in the struggle for its freedom. The fact that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was with the Ukrainian people today meant a lot to us. I believed that together we would be able to overcome all challenges.
