Steinmeier calls for holding another Minsk group meeting

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has called for the speedy convening of a new round of talks of the contact group on the settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, reads a posting on the website of the German Federal Foreign Office.
“The minister welcomed the recent agreements between the parties to the conflict in Ukraine on the exchange of prisoners. According to him, now it is necessary to continue negotiations on the line of contact between the parties, which in turn, is necessary for humanitarian aid to the people living in this region,” reads the statement.
As reported, talks of the contact group on the settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine were held in Minsk on December 24. The Ukrainian side was represented at the talks by second Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma. The date of the next meeting is not yet known.
