Steinmeier calls for cooperation with Russia

Germany`s Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said in an interview with Handelsblatt he wants to stronger reconnect with Russia on the international stage.
”It would be good to overcome here now speechlessness,” said Steinmeier.
”I can imagine we are making a serious attempt to cooperate with Russia on Libya,” he added.
According to the minister, the general interest is the stabilization of the situation in Libya, while in the future,  a springboard is the Islamic state.
Steinmeier also supported setting up conditions for the return of Russia to the G8.
The minister said he is convinced that the West should work together with Russia in difficult situations, and stressed that he did not support a policy of isolation.
At the same time, Steinmeier said that Moscow should increase efforts to fulfill the Minsk agreements.
