Slovakia will provide Ukraine with 30 infantry combat vehicles

The Minister of Defence of Slovakia said on August 23, 2022, that Slovakia would supply Ukraine with 30 BMP-1 infantry combat vehicles and will receive 15 Leopard 2A4 tanks from Germany in exchange. He said this during the signing of the defence agreement with Germany.

“Slovakia will send its 30 IFVs to Ukraine & get 15 Leopard2A4 MBT from Germany,” Minister of Defence of the Slovak Republic Jaroslav Nad posted on Twitter.

“We will receive at least one vehicle by the end of this year”, Nad’ said concerning the arrival of Leopard 2A4 tanks in Slovakia.

Other German tanks are expected next year. The needed ammunition, spare parts and complex training will also be provided.

In turn, President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová emphasized at the Crimea Platform summit that Bratislava would continue to provide political, humanitarian, economic, and security assistance to Ukraine.

“We have to increase the costs on Russia for its actions and reduce the possibilities for it to continue the war.”
