Slovakia to increase capacity for gas imports to Ukraine

Slovakia`s gas transportation system operator Eustream will boost the capacity for imports to Ukraine by 1.1 million cubic meters per day in the fourth quarter of 2016, according to the company`s press service.

”Eustream announces the increased interruptible capacity at exit Budince interconnection point, in order to satisfy market demand for respective capacity. Eustream provides additional pipeline capacity of 12,000 MWh per day for the period of the fourth quarter 2016,” reads the statement.

Today, 28 September, at 12:00, the additional capacity will be published on the company webpage.

As of September 29, gas imports from Slovakia amount to around 40 million cubic meters per day.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 7, Ukraine began to refill its gas storage facilities. Naftogaz of Ukraine before the upcoming heating season planned to accumulate about 14.5 billion cubic meters of gas. As of September 26, Ukraine pumped into its USFs more than 14 billion cubic meters.

At the beginning of September 2016 the Cabinet of Ministers instructed Naftogaz of Ukraine to draft and approve a new schedule of gas injection into Ukrainian USFs, providing for the stocks to be upgraded to 17 bcm by Nov 1, 2016.

The state holding Naftogaz plans to buy part of imported gas using its own funds, as well as using a  $300 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
