Sixty-four police officers killed in east Ukraine conflict – Interior Ministry

Sixty-four police officers have been killed in the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine.
Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said this at a ceremony to honor the deceased police officers in Kyiv on Friday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“Sixty-four brave warriors of the National Guard, special Interior Ministry battalions and regular police units have been killed in the conflict in the east,” he said.
He noted that the Ukrainian authorities would strengthen social protection of families of those killed and would not leave them alone with disaster.
“Every family of fallen heroes will feel government care and will be provided with apartments,” Avakov said.
He said that a respective decision had been taken by the Cabinet Minister and that the first keys to apartments had already been given.
During the celebrations a number of soldiers from Interior Ministry battalions received state awards.
