Shymkiv: Ukraine may launch 5G, skipping 4G

Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Dmytro Shymkiv says Ukraine may be ready for the launch of 5G (mobile networks of the 5th generation), skipping 4G tenders, LІGA.net reported.
Shymkiv forecasts that 4G licenses will be unnecessary if commercial equipment for 5G networks is available on the market by the time of the next tender in a few years.
”This stage may be skipped,” Shymkiv said in the course of public debates at Hub4.0 center on digital transformations in Ukraine.
The National Commission for State Regulation of Communications and IT late in 2015 began preparations for next tenders to sell new frequency resources. The Commission has recently involved British experts to analyze the available frequency band in Ukraine. The analysis will be completed by the end of 2017, according to the plan.
