Shavkat Mirziyoyev assumes office of President of Uzbekistan

President-elect of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took an oath and assumed the office of the President of Uzbekistan on December 14, 2016, according to UzDaily.

Ceremony of inauguration of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was held in Tashkent within a joint session of the Legislative Chamber and Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, UzDaily reported.

During the ceremony, chairperson of the Central Election Commission Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalomov stated that Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a candidate from the UzLiDeP, has been elected President of Uzbekistan with 88.61% of the vote, based on the results of the presidential elections that took place on December 4, 2016.

Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalomov cordially congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his election to the post of the President of Uzbekistan and handed an identity card of the President of Uzbekistan and a certificate of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev took the oath.

He said: ”I do solemnly swear to faithfully serve the people of Uzbekistan, to strictly follow the Constitution and laws of the Republic, to guarantee the rights and freedoms of its citizens, to conscientiously exercise the duties vested on the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.”

At present Shavkat Mirziyoyev is delivering an inaugural speech at the solemn ceremony. He expressed gratitude to candidates from other parties.
