Russians continue to steal Ukrainian grain, for this, they “nationalize” grain elevators in the occupied territories of Ukraine. They have stolen 20 grain elevators owned by people who refused to cooperate with them in the occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

“The occupiers have set up a ‘State Grain Company’ in the Zaporizhzhia region and put 20 grain elevators on its balance sheet. In fact, they stole those elevators because their real owners did not agree to cooperate with them.”

In most cases, the Russians offer farmers two options: either to sell their grain at a fixed price per tonne that is several times lower than the market price, or to put farm assets at the Russians’ disposal.

Using these tactics, the occupiers are exporting up to 100,000 tonnes of grain every month from Zaporizhzhia Oblast alone. Most of the grain goes to Egypt, Turkey and the Middle East.

In addition, Russians continue to purposefully destroy grain fields and prevent farmers from harvesting.
