Russian invaders destroyed a monument of the history of Ukraine “Kalmius Settlement”

Mariupol City Council reported on September 6, 2022, that Russian invaders continue to destroy any mention of Ukrainian history. In particular, they destroyed the territory of the archaeological site “Kalmius Settlement” in the temporarily occupied Mariupol (east of Ukraine).

“Occupiers are doing everything to destroy any mention of Ukrainian history of Mariupol. The territory of the archaeological site of local importance “Kalmius Settlement” was destroyed. Russians barbarically shelled the city and continue to erase historical, archeological and cultural monuments from the map of Mariupol. To plant one’s own, and to destroy the history of other people is a typical “Russian world,” the Council emphasized.

Uaposition memo: Kalmius, is a settlement in the Northeastern Azov Sea area, is located on the left bank of the Kalmius River in the historic center of Mariupol. This site is multilayered and contains cultural layers that range from the Neolithic to the Modern Age.
