Russia openly threatens to use nuclear weapons in case of “NATO provocation”

Russia’s deputy ambassador to the UN, Dmitry Polyanskiy, has said that Russia reserves the right to use nuclear weapons if NATO “provokes” the country.

About the prospect of a nuclear war against the rest of the world, Polyanskiy said: “If Russia is provoked by NATO, if  Russia is attacked by NATO, then why not, we are a nuclear state.”

“Don’t talk about this. But you shouldn’t threaten Russia and try to intervene. Because when you’re dealing with a nuclear state, of course, you have to calculate all the possible consequences of your behavior,” he said.

The deputy ambassador rejected an official statement by the US government that Russian servicemen were guilty of war crimes in Ukraine.

“I don’t think we’re committing war crimes in Ukraine. Of course, I can’t judge. I’m not there. And you’re not there. You watch a lot of videos that can be fake. You believe in one thing, I believe in another”, –  Polyanskiy declared.
