Russia’s armed forces are engaged in direct military operations in Ukraine.
NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said this after a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission, which was convened on Friday at the request of the Ukrainian side, a Ukrinform correspondent in Brussels reported.
“Russian forces are engaged in direct military operations inside Ukraine,” he said.
He confirmed that Russia continues to supply the separatists with tanks, armored vehicles, artillery and rocket launchers and that Russia had fired on Ukraine from both Russian territory and within Ukraine itself.
“Today, we expressed strong solidarity with Ukraine,” Rasmussen said, adding that the alliance will confirm this to President Petro Poroshenko at a summit in Wales.
