Poroshenko thanks Canadian PM for steadfast support for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has talked on the phone with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and thanked him for Canadian hospitality during his visit to Ottawa on September 17, the presidential press service has reported.
“The sides discussed the situation in Donbas. The president expressed his special gratitude to Canada for the decision to allocate $11 million worth of military-technical assistance to Ukraine, which includes clothing and shoes, cold weather gear, explosive ordinance disposal equipment, communications equipment, night vision devices and other optical equipment, and medical equipment, including a mobile field hospital and medical supplies. The first batch of the aid has already been received, and the next one is expected,” reads the statement.
In addition, the head of state expressed special gratitude for the steadfast support for Ukraine, which Canada demonstrates at international forums, including at the G20 summit in Brisbane.
Poroshenko and Harper also discussed ways to increase economic assistance to Ukraine through the mechanism of international financial institutions. The parties positively assessed the resumption of talks at the level of experts on a free trade area between Ukraine and Canada and agreed that it should be introduced by the end of 2015.
