Poroshenko orders law enforcement officers to ensure ‘day of silence’

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has discussed with the heads of law enforcement agencies the measures to ensure the implementation of the Minsk agreements on a “day of silence” in Donbas, which is due to start on December 9.
The meeting took place on the eve of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is marked on December 6, the presidential press service reported.
“The meeting participants discussed the fulfillment of assigned tasks in the anti-terrorist operation area and outlined measures to ensure compliance with the Minsk agreements on the day of silence, which is due to start December 9,” reads the statement.
The meeting participants also determined further actions if militants fail to comply with the Minsk agreements.
The president paid special attention to the provision of the Armed Forces with military equipment and the release of hostages.
The meeting was attended by Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, Chairman of the State Border Service Viktor Nazarenko and Deputy Commander of the National Guard Mykola Balan.
