Poroshenko meets in Paris with Ukrainian community in France, Canada and Belgium

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, in the conclusion of his unofficial visit to France on the occasion of participation in the Unity March, has met in Paris with representatives of the Ukrainian community in France, Canada and Belgium.
The president thanked the Ukrainian diaspora for their support of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“It is very important when you realize how congenial we are. Today I saw the French Maidan, the Maidan that is able to unite and defend the best human values. Today, this is first time I felt how close Ukrainians are to French,” he said.
Poroshenko also shared his impressions of the reception at the Elysee Palace and of the attitude of ordinary French to Ukrainians during the Unity March.
“I was very impressed by the reception hosted by French President Francois Hollande,” Poroshenko said.
“Ukraine’s presence today in Paris is important to them [French people], it is our unity and solidarity. Everyone understands that we can defeat terrorism only through unity and solidarity,” he said, adding that this is an important step to demonstrate that Ukraine should be a member of the European Union.
