Poll: 42% of Ukrainians want early parliament election

As of September this year, 42% of the population in Ukraine said they would support early elections to the Verkhovna Rada, the country`s parliament, according to a public opinion poll conducted by Rating Group Ukraine at the request of the International Republican Institute.

At the same time, 64% of the polled said they would go to vote if the snap parliamentary elections took place.

In particular, 18% of those polled expressed unequivocal support for the idea of holding the early vote for parliament in Ukraine, another 24% said they would rather support than skip it.

Some 18% of the pollees said they were ”undecided.”

Yet, 21% of the respondents said they were strongly against any parliamentary elections ahead of schedule, another 19% said they were rather against than for such voting.

If the snap elections had taken place next Sunday, 31% of the polled would have definitely turn up, 33% said they would rather go than not, while 28% said they would have not voted with 8% of the pollees being still undecided.

In June 2016, the results of a similar public opinion poll had the following returns: 56% would vote, 32% would not vote and 11% were undecided.

The survey was conducted throughout Ukraine (except occupied territories of Donbas and Crimea) from September 28 to October 7, 2016. The respondents were polled by way of a personal interview at their home. A total of 2,400 Ukrainians aged from 18 participated. The margin of error does not exceed 2%.
