Poland wants to deploy Patriot air defense systems near the border with Ukraine

The Minister of Defense of Poland Mariusz Blaszczak noted on November 21, 2022, on Twitter that he welcomed the proposal of the German colleague to place additional Patriot missile launchers on the territory of Poland.

“I accepted the German Defense Minister’s offer to place additional Patriot missile launchers in our country with pleasure. During today’s telephone conversation with the German side, I will propose that the system be placed on the border with Ukraine,” wrote the Polish Defense Minister.

Earlier, German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht proposed to provide Poland with additional air defense systems.

“We offered Poland support in ensuring airspace security – with our Eurofighter fighters and Patriot air defense systems,” said German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht.

On November 15, 2022, during a massive Russian missile attack on Ukraine, 2 missiles fell in Poland, killing two people. The Polish government decided to increase the combat readiness of the army on the same day at an extraordinary government meeting in the evening of November 15, 2022.
