“Permanent bases of allies should be established in NATO’s eastern flank countries. Poland is ready to build such bases (to include) light infantry units on a permanent basis.”

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, NATO has significantly strengthened its eastern flank, largely through rotating forces. This week, US Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski said that 12,600 US troops are currently stationed at bases in Poland. The country has or will soon receive US M1A2 Abrams battle tanks, HIMARS artillery systems, and F-35 fighters.

Poland continues to provide military, humanitarian and economic assistance to Ukraine. This week, Poland provided Ukraine with a significant amount of spare parts and ammunition for MiG-29 fighters.
