Passenger bus services to occupied areas grind to a halt in Donetsk region

Passenger bus operators who haven’t obtained permits to cross over to the occupied areas in Donetsk region halted their services.
The news was reported by department of basic industries at Donetsk Regional State Administration on Thursday.
“Today, nearly 90% of bus operators do not have permits for buses crossing the demarcation line. Some bus operators refused to drive to the occupied territory until they obtain permits. Others transport passengers to the demarcation line,” the statement said.
The local government officials stated some bus operators transport their passengers so that they could transfer to buses that have already received a permit. Today, some buses running on the route Mariupol – Donetsk transferred passengers at the town Vuhledar to a local bus operator who has already received a permit and transported the passengers with permits to Donetsk.
The department officials noted the daily traffic of passengers was about 800 people on the route Mariupol – Donetsk prior to permit requirement.
All other bus routes within Ukrainian controlled region operate as usual.
