PACE to discuss issue of Ukrainian refugees

Participants of the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will discuss the humanitarian situation in Ukraine at the plenary session on Tuesday.
This is stated in the agenda of the meeting released by the press service of PACE, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
The agenda for Tuesday, January 27, includes a discussion of six questions, the second of which is an open debate on the humanitarian situation of refugees and internally displaced persons in Ukraine and the statement of Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks.
About 70 deputies have already registered to speak on this issue.
Draft resolution entitled “Humanitarian situation of Ukrainian refugees and displaced persons” was prepared by British MP of the Labour Party Jim Sheridan.
Russian delegates, whose powers have been recently reaffirmed, plan to take an active part in open discussions. Although this decision is still in dispute, the Russian delegation has the right to vote and to participate in the debate before its final approval (on Wednesday, January28).
