Odesa police detain group of recent bombings suspects

KYIV, January 27 /Ukrinform. Law enforcement officers from criminal investigation office and organized crime unit of Odesa regional police detained a group of suspects who may have committed a series of night bombings recently in Odesa, the prominent southern port city in Ukraine. It was done within the framework of operational measures implementation to identify persons who may be involved in preparation of acts of terror in Odessa.
Director of the center of public relations of Odesa regional police Volodymyr Shabliyenko
told Ukrinform.
“On Tuesday, police discovered explosives in the trunk of a car parked near the entrance to the Malinovsky market during a police special operation in the market around 14.00 and detained a group of persons who may have been involved in carrying out a series of explosions in the city,” Shablyienko said.
Now the crime scene investigation team of Malinovsky police district department probes the scene and files a report on removal of explosives possessed by suspects. Afterwards, criminal charges will be brought on the basis of a qualifying legal decision, the official said.
