Residents of the north of occupied Crimea, near the town of Armyansk, are facing a disconnection of the Internet ”for security reasons,” Russia`s TV Channel Dozhd reported.
”It occurred after a shootout on the border with Ukraine and the detention of suspects who were preparing for a terrorist attack on the peninsula,” Olga Kovitidi, so-called senator of occupied Crimea and member of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security, said.
”It was disconnected for safety reasons to ensure that certain special services do not penetrate. All these activities are necessary for security reasons, and people understand this,” Kovitidi added.
Earlier, Krymtelekom had reported Internet disruptions in the northern parts of occupied Crimea due to engineering work. The service provider linked it with the engineering work being carried out on data networks.
