According to the Minister, the sanction list includes Federal Ministers, non-permanent members of Russia’s Security Council, relatives of Putin, and Chechen Republic President Ramzan Kadyrov.

“Those listed were part of a network of influence around Putin, and had used their positions to threaten Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

The Minister also criticized Russia’s holding of pseudo-referendums in the occupied Ukrainian territories and called it a violation of the basic norms of international law.

Sanctions against Russia allow the government to freeze assets, establish travel bans or prohibit financial transactions.

It should be noted that New Zealand has already imposed sanctions against more than a thousand individuals and legal entities.
