NBU holds talks with Indonesian company on money production

National Bank`s Acting Governor Yakiv Smolii held a meeting with the delegation of Indonesian state-owned company Perum Peruri, a global producer of banknotes and highly secured products, the NBU press service reports.

During the meeting, participants discussed the possibility of establishing a strategic partnership between the NBU and Perum Peruri in the area of manufacturing high-security paper, banknotes printing and coins minting, according to the report.

”We are interested in cooperation with Ukraine as production capacities of the NBU`s Banknote Paper Mill, Banknote Printing and Minting Works meet the best world standards. We are absolutely astonished at the efficient work of the staff, high level of automation, innovative technologies and quality of Ukrainian paper, banknotes, and coins,” said head of the Indonesian delegation, Harjo Sumarto Subandrio Subandrio.

Acting Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Yakiv Smolii thanked the representatives of the company for their high appraisal of the NBU`s efforts in the field.

”The NBU has ambitious plans to enter the international arena of banknotes printing and coin minting industry, so we are pleased with your interest to be a potential strategic partner in the area,” Smolii said.

He expressed hopes that the company`s visit to Ukraine would be fruitful and lead to practical cooperation in the future. 

Perum Peruri is a 100% state-owned Indonesian company specializing on printing Indonesian banknotes and producing coins on orders from the Central Bank of Indonesia.
