National Bank of Ukraine on PrivatBank nationalization: Services for legal entities suspended for 24 hours, no other payment restrictions to come

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at its Sunday meeting supported the offer of the National Bank to transfer PJSC PrivatBank to 100% state ownership.

PrivatBank suspends services for legal entities for just one day, December 19. No other restrictions of payments will be introduced, according to NBU Governor Valeria Gontareva.

Gontareva noted that the NBU is ready to help maintain the liquidity of PrivatBank, but does not expect a significant outflow of deposits from the bank.

Earlier, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Oleksandr Danyliuk assured that the depositors` money invested in PrivatBank was safe and protected by the state.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ukrainian Government at its meeting on Sunday supported the proposal of the NBU and the Council for Financial Stability to transfer PJSC PrivatBank to 100% state ownership.
