Naftogaz CEO warns about attempts to turn gas giant into donor for corrupt businesses

CEO of state-owned oil and gas company Naftogaz of Ukraine Andriy Kobolev has warned about attempts being made to turn the gas giant into a donor for corrupt businesses.

”Attempts are being made to go back to the times when Naftogaz was virtually a donor for all privately owned criminal and corrupt businesses. We hope that the country`s leaders would realize this and draw proper conclusions,” Kobolev said in his interview with Hromadske TV.

Naftogaz`s CEO also stated that Naftogaz should be transferred under management by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine when ”decisions are made collectively and where they will be discussed, verified with all options being analyzed.”

Kobolev assumed that Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman had not suspended an Economy Ministry decision aimed to grab control over Naftogaz`s subsidiary, Ukrtransgaz, as he had not been informed about all possible consequences of the decision.
