MPs prepare special procedure for Russian journalists’ accreditation

The Verkhovna Rada committee on freedom of speech and information decided to establish a working group to draft legislative changes to the procedure of accreditation of the Russian media in the Ukrainian parliament.
The decision was taken at the committee’s meeting, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“We need to establish a working group to draft legislative changes, or to improve the situation with accreditation of the Russian media, but at the same time to avoid the barrage of accusations of censorship,” committee chair Viktoria Siumar said.
She explained that the parliament received a request from the Ukrainian journalists to review the procedure of accreditation of the Russian media in the Ukrainian parliament. Journalists also urge to review the procedure of accreditation of people, who pretend to be representatives of the media to settle their private matters on the parliament’s sidelines.
