MPs ask the world to declare DNR, LNR terrorist organizations

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the appeal to the European Parliament, the PACE, the national parliaments and the governments of the EU member states, the USA, Canada, Japan, Australia regarding the mass execution of people by terrorists near Volnovakha, Donetsk region.
241 MPs voted for the corresponding decision, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
The text of the appeal was read out in the parliament by chair of the parliament’s committee on European integration Iryna Herashchenko.
“The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine calls on the European Parliament, the PACE, the national parliaments and the governments of the EU member states, the USA, Canada, Japan, Australia to continue the policy of sanctions against Russia,” Herashchenko said.
In addition, she said that the second paragraph of this appeal is the request to the world to include the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) and Luhansk People’s Republic (LNR) and other similar formations in the list of terrorist organizations.
Herashchenko added that the appeal also urges the above-mentioned countries to consider the possibility of providing Ukraine with military assistance in order to strengthen its defense capabilities, including for the protection of the state borders, and to draft the program of assistance to Ukraine in the context of response at humanitarian situation in Donbas area over the next two months.
The lawmaker stressed that the appeal also included request for continuation of the policy of non-recognition of illegal annexation of Crimea, promotion a political solution to settle situation in Donbas area, based on full respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and continuation of the overall countering Russian propaganda.
“The mass execution of people in Paris and Volnovakha is the event of the same series. The civilized world must unite in the fight against terrorism,” Herashchenko quoted the text of the appeal.
