During the last day Ukrainian military positions in the area of anti-terrorist operation have been shelled by militants 120 times.
Acting Spokesperson for the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Vladyslav Selezniov said this at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“For the last day illegal armed groups carried out 120 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops, which are stationed in more than 30 settlements,” Selezniov said.
According to him, the most difficult situation is in the area of Debaltseve bridgehead, where the highest number of attacks and combat assaults by militants is reported.
“Militants opened fire 32 times, using multiple rocket launchers, 28 times fired with the artillery of various calibers, 40 times fired with mortars and five times fired with tanks,” he said, adding that there were five combat assaults and seven military clashes.
At the same time, he said that the militants also fired at those settlements where there were no Ukrainian military. “In particular, for the last day six such cases were recorded. Militants shelled the settlements of Schastia, Novotroitske, Hranitne and Chermalyk,” Seleznev said.
