Maryinka crossing post temporarily closed due to shelling – Border guards

The Maryinka control post has been temporarily closed to crossings due to shelling by militants, the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported.

”Today, at 6 a.m., at the time the Donetsk-Kurakhovo road corridor was to be opened, militants began shelling the Maryinka control post. Fire was launched from 5.45mm and 7.62mm caliber small arms at the checkpoint in the direction of the forest sector near the village of Oleksandrivka, located in the uncontrolled territories,” the report said.

No casualties have been reported due to the shelling.

”In order to avoid civilian casualties, the crossing of individuals and vehicles has been temporarily suspended,” the State Border Guard Service announced.

It was also reported that within the past few days, illegal armed groups attacked the Maiorsk checkpoint. Witnesses said a sniper fired in the direction of Horlivka.
As UNIAN reported earlier, pro-Russian militants attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 50 times in the past 24 hours.
