Lucescu signs three-year contract with FC Zenit Saint Petersburg – agent

Former manager of FC Shakhtar Donetsk Mircea Lucescu has signed a contract with FC Zenit Saint Petersburg, Russian news agency TASS reports, citing the words of the coach`s agent Arkady Zaporozhanu.
”The contract was signed this night. The agreement was signed in a 2+1 scheme, but we can say that it is a full three-year contract, because there is a condition that, if after the second year none of the parties notifies the other party of the termination of the contract in writing, the third year will automatically enter into force,” Zaporozhanu said.
In addition, in an interview with R-Sport, the agent said that Russian coaches, who were part of the previous staff under former coach Andre Villas-Boas, would remain at the club.
”As for the Russian coaches, who were part of the previous staff under the former coach Andre Villas-Boas, namely Sergey Semak and Igor Simutenkov, they will remain at the club, but his status is unclear. Mr. Lucescu will arrive in St. Petersburg to talk with them and get acquainted. The decision will be made then,” the agent said.
On Saturday, Lucescu left FC Shakhtar Donetsk after 12 years of coaching the squad.
Yesterday, he met with Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller, having discussed his job offer at FC Zenit.
